Each reference in the source file must start with the tag "TI%" (without the inverted commas and with no space) and have a clear line at the end before the next reference: TI%Ref1 TI%Ref2 TI%Ref3 etc You should edit the text file to ensure that it meets this simple layout standard before attempting to import. Each reference will be imported into the TITLE field of the default reference type to allow dragging and dropping of the data to the correct fields within the reference. This avoids the updating of term lists on import, but is sufficiently near the top of the reference editing screen. Why import like this? It avoids the need to create a new reference in EndNote and having to drag and drop each reference in the text file to EndNote. You can reduce the labour involved in producing the text file in the layout format by using your word processor's search and replace functions.
