"BLETCHINGLEY, a parish in the first division of the hundred of Tandridge, in the county of Surrey, 5 miles to the E. of Reigate, and 20 miles from London. The South-Eastern railway passes through the parish, the nearest station to which is Redhill. Ham Farm is a hamlet of this parish Bletchingley is a very ancient place, and was formerly a market town and a borough, returning two members to parliament from the reign of Edward I. The market was long since disused, and the borough was disfranchised by the Reform Act in 1832."
