"HORLEY, a parish in the first division of the hundred of Reigate, county Surrey, 5 miles N. of Crawley, its post town, 4¾ S. of Reigate, and 15¼ from Croydon. It is a station on the London, Brighton, and South Coast railway. The village is situated on the river Mole, and the inhabitants are chiefly employed in agriculture."
