Alex Zika - Protest Rota
With two context sensitive interventions Placebo (Fast Relief)
and Protest Rota, Alex Zika will exemplify how public art
institutions like the ICA retain and facilitate a self critical attitude
and also establish a caring and responsible yet challenging relationship
with the public.

Protest Rota
is a voluntary daily 15 min protest for all employees of the ICA. Each
person working in and for the ICA is encouraged and entitled to publicly
express for fifteen minutes of their paid working time in what manner
and way they decide, any personal concerns, discontents or criticism to
those within the institution. This action is a democratic exercise,
testing the flexibility of the institution for facilitating an internal
dialogue, amplifying its political and social dynamics and highlighting
the many personal concerns sheltered by it as well as examining the
willingness to individually partake in a critical exchange.
