Robert Osborne
Gaffa Tape Weave
13 – 20 June 2005
For I.D.E.A.London Osborne produced a site specific woven drawing and
path though the lower areas of the ICA gallery and building. Osborne’s
intricate drawings control the viewer, forcing their position and
journey to the forefront of the experience, mapping a meander through
a space or dictating the position of objects within an area.
By producing the work in public, allowing the audience to view the
gestation and evolution of the work, Osborne’s period of activity
contrasted starkly with Flávia Müller Medeiros’ period of studio
residency for I.D.E.A.London at the ICA. Both were producing works
of art, in the same space yet under different conditions and paradigms.
The work was removed on Monday 20th June.
Osborne has recently completed BA Textiles at Goldsmiths College and
is a committee member of Numbers gallery, Kingsland Road, London
