Sam Ely & Lynn Harris
4th and 5th June 2005, ICA, from 12.00
Sam Ely and Lynn Harris will respond to our invitation with a
research-based project that will develop from a short residence
at ICA on the 4th and 5th June. In order to respond to our
question ‘What should be happening at the ICA?’ they will
observe and question the complex relationship between the
nomadic I.D.E.A.London and the established ICA, documenting
its precarious balance between integration and struggle.
Sam Ely and Lynn Harris are a collaboration that has been
working together since 2002. They are interested in using
research and dialogue as means to recognize and interpret
existing social and political constructs and in making
these structures elusively visible. Their content is ever
expanding as they talk to more people and has dealt with
the potential of the unrealised, self help, gift giving
and intellectual property to name a few. They try to approach
these issues in a critical but non-hierarchical fashion
through active projects including collaborating with others,
printed matter, the web and descriptive souvenirs.
