2. Pay framework update

New draft on promotions partially addresses concerns but promotion from Lec A to Lec B still problematic as departs from transition written in the Framework Agreement. BL has supplied a new wording to CP. Still disagreement about where to place readers on the scale and still no meaningful separate profile. Management have suggested that appeals procedure on promotions be related to grievance procedure which is not acceptable.

Agreed that BL and DB, in conjunction with Exec, write a document to go to Pay Forum one week before the next meeting in April.

BL and DB also to write a short statement for members summarising where we are at.

3. Slogan for GUCU banner

Agreed on a design that includes the words ‘Education, Justice, Equality, Solidarity’

4. Staff learning issues

Agreed to raise the role of the union learning rep and the issue of learning needs at the next General Meeting.

5. Reports from campaigns

• Discussed national campaign on job losses in HE and importance of UCU rally at 6pm on Thursday April 2. We are setting up a stall at 1pm Thursday 26 march outside Loafers to publicise the rally and the issues involved.

• New PBS immigration rules. College is implementing them in relation to new procedures on monitoring attendance that are NOT specific to international students. Members need to continue to refuse to comply with any requests for information that are directly related to the implementation of PBS.

• Agreed to support campaign (with local NUT and students) against the College’s proposal for a trust school and to support a public meeting on this issue.

• Kirsten to email re: arrangements for attending Put People First march on 28 March and Stop the War protest against G20 at 2pm on Wednesday 1 April.
