Goldsmiths Education Partnership
Last night's meeting, co-sponsored by GUCU, on the proposed Goldsmiths Education Trust, went very well with about 50 people present. This included both staff and students from Goldsmiths as well as teachers and parents from the schools involved. All those attending spoke of the lack of detail in the proposals, questioned the need for a 'hard' federation as opposed to a 'soft' one, and agreed to organise a big public meeting on the issue in September.
You may also be interested to hear that, last Thursday, Council refused to give its backing at this time to the proposed Trust and that many tough questions were asked about the scheme. The Trust is currently in the preliminary consultation phase so we need people to make their voices heard. This phase of consultation ends by the 20th of July, so please email your views to one of the following addresses:

We really hope you take the time to make a contribution to this important issue. We all want Goldsmiths to play a major role in the local community but is involvement in a highly controversial educational proposal the best way to achieve this?
